Israel is permitted to participate in Eurovision after modifying the lyrics of a contentious song.

Eden Golan, who will represent Israel in the competition in Sweden, stirred controversy with her original song, October Rain, as it was believed to allude to the Hamas bombings of October 7.

Lyrics like “There’s no air left to breathe” and “They were all good children, each one of them” were added in it, seemingly making references to the people killed by Hamas.

As a non-political competition, Eurovision has the right to disqualify participants who are found to have broken this regulation.
