Imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding leader Imran Khan has forecasted a Sri Lanka-like situation in the country, claiming that the nation’s aspirations were dashed by “stealing the mandate” in the 2024 countrywide general election.
“My all predictions have proven true,” the former prime minister remarked during a casual engagement with journalists in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where he maintained that he would not engage in talks with the current government to make a “deal”.
“Everything is based on lies […] the election was a lie […] the security threat was also a lie,” the cricketer-turned-politician stated, adding that the PTI was purposefully excluded from the 2024 elections.
Khan, the deposed premier, was removed from power by a legislative vote in April 2022.
asserted that the voters took retribution on the polling day, but the “change via vote was not accepted”.
He noted that the previous ruling party would continue its nonviolent protests against the rigging in addition to filing a petition with the Supreme Court.
He also predicted ‘horse-trading’ in the upcoming Senate elections, scheduled for April 2. The former Prime Minister said that he was not allowed to consult his counsel.
