After losing another National Assembly seat, NA-81, to the PML-N on Thursday, Imran Khan’s PTI accused Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja of being asked to hand up 20 of their seats to the ruling alliance.
A day earlier, the ECP announced Khan Bahadar of the PML-N as the returning (winning) candidate in constituency PP-100. Chaudhry Umair Wasi Zafar, the PTI candidate, was proclaimed the winner of this constituency with a lead of almost 4,000 votes.
In a statement, PTI senior leader Omar Ayub Khan claimed, “The CEC failed to hold free and fair elections,” and demanded that the election inspector resign immediately for his failure.
“Ballet papers were sold for Rs80 to 90 million,” he further stated.
In exchange for his “services,” the ruling alliance plans to designate the CEC as Pakistan’s ambassador to Canada, according to the PTI leader. The election commission, on the other hand, dismissed the charges as “baseless”.
Omar fired a further shot against the ruling alliance, saying, “People sitting on the treasury benches are beneficiaries of Form 47.”
The PTI claimed that its mandate was stolen during the February 8 general elections and that the results were modified in Form 47. The former ruling party also claimed they won 180 NA seats based on Form 45 numbers.
