More than 8,000 drivers and owners of taxis and hire cars filed the class action lawsuit with Maurice Blackburn Lawyers.
The lawsuit said that when the massive ride-hailing company “aggressively” entered the nation, they lost their income.
The legal company claimed that Uber “fought tooth and nail at every point along the way.”
“Since 2018, Uber has made significant contributions to various state-level taxi compensation schemes, and with today’s proposed settlement, we put these legacy issues firmly in our past,” Uber stated in a statement.
The amount of the proposed settlement was not disclosed by the corporation.
