On Friday, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expressed hope that the return of key players will provide a substantial boost to his club.
Despite a difficult season beset by injuries, United are preparing for a key encounter against Jurgen Klopp’s team at Old Trafford on Sunday, hoping to keep their title hopes alive.
Ten Hag gave a hopeful report during his pre-match press conference on Friday, saying, “We had a terrific week. Today we had a session, and everyone was training.”
He hinted at right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s return from a two-month absence, as well as the availability of England defender Harry Maguire and Denmark forward Rasmus Hojlund.
“I think (they are available),” Ten Hag said. He went on to say, “Of course, we have to see how they recover from this, but it looks good.”
Ten Hag also revealed encouraging news about midfielder Mason Mount, who has been sidelined for four months due to a calf injury. “It was very good that Mason Mount trained with us the whole week,” he said, optimistic about Mount’s return to action.
However, United will be without Lisandro Martinez, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia, while Jonny Evans is still dealing with a slight injury that has kept him out of Northern Ireland’s March international team.
