JEDDAH: On Wednesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz to discuss military cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
According to a news release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief met with the Saudi prime minister on an official visit to the Gulf Kingdom.
“Wide-ranging issues of mutual interest, including regional peace and security, bilateral defence and security cooperation came under discussion,” a statement from the ISPR stated.
According to the military’s media wing, Mohammad Bin Salman emphasized that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have long-standing brotherly and strong relations, and both countries have always stood up for one another.
The crown prince also expressed a desire to improve bilateral ties and stated that the kingdom will continue to stand behind Pakistan in the future, according to the ISPR.
In response, the COAS thanked the Saudi leadership for their kind words and support for Pakistan.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the meeting was attended by Saudi Minister of Defence Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, National Security Advisor Dr Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Chief of General Intelligence Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan, Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Al-Malki.
