Robinho was given a nine-year prison sentence in Italy in 2017 for his involvement in a group sexual assault that occurred in 2013 while he was an AC Milan player.
Because Brazil does not extradite its citizens, Italy requested that he be imprisoned in his country.
As of right now, a Brazilian court has decided that Robinho must complete his prison term there. The judges of Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice voted 9–2 to uphold Robinho’s conviction.
Following his £32.5 million move to Man City in 2008—the day the team was acquired by an investment firm led by Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mansour—Robinho, now forty—became well-known in England.
Later on, the football player from Brazil would transfer to AC Milan.
Francisco Falcao, the first judge to cast a vote on the Brazilian court, recommended that Robinho serve out his term in Brazil.
He went on to say that the former player would not go unpunished and that if the sentence is not served, international tensions between Brazil and Italy may arise.
