Russia’s two landing ships reportedly struck Crimea during the war in Ukraine.

Ukraine claims to have destroyed two landing ships, a communications hub, and more Russian Black Sea fleet facilities near the seized Crimea.

According to a statement from the Ukrainian military, the Yamal and Azov vessels had been obliterated.

The port governor of Sevastopol, appointed by Russia, reported that ten Ukrainian missiles had been shot down.

Additionally, Russia launched a missile and drone attack on Kyiv, the nation’s capital, and the Lviv region early on Sunday.

In an announcement, Mikhail Razvozhayev, the mayor of Sevastopol, who was appointed by Russia, claimed that both residential buildings and transportation infrastructure had been harmed by the “massive” attack.

He asked the community members not to post any information or images online.

UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps praised the attack on the Russian ships as a “historic moment for Ukraine.”

While the Russian Fleet has been operating in the Black Sea since 1783, Shapps explained, “in plain English, it means that Putin can no longer exercise there safely.”

He said that the world “cannot afford” for Ukraine to lose this war and that the UK’s support for Kyiv in the face of Russian attacks “will remain undimmed.”

The Russian landing ships are supposed to have been destroyed; however, the BBC has not been able to independently verify this report. Landing ships are used to drop troops and equipment directly onto the coast without the need for a pier or dock.
