ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife Bushra Bibi were served with a production order by an Islamabad district and sessions court on Monday.
The two submitted pleas requesting bail in the cases involving the forging of receipts for gifts from Toshakhana, while Khan also filed a plea seeking release in the case involving the violent protests on May 9. The court has now issued them production order on the pleas.
The production order was given by District and Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, who also instructed the Adiala jail superintendent to bring the pair before the court on April 4.
The ruling followed the approval of a request last week by a different district and sessions court to bring Khan and PTI chief Shah Mahmood Qureshi into custody.
Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas heard the petition seeking their production in connection with the case of the Parliament attack against Khan and others.
During the hearing, Naeem Panjotha, Khan’s attorney, contended that the Adiala jail superintendent disregarded all court orders. He had urged the court to make sure the jail staff followed the directives and turned over Khan.
