The most decorated player in Gloucestershire history, Alleyne, 55, was a coach there from 2005 to 2007 before making a comeback this past month.
Following their relegation in 2021, Gloucestershire finished last season at the bottom of Division Two.
On April 5, the team travels to Derbyshire to start their 2024 campaign.
“We’re good enough as we are to be in the top two of eight in the championship; that’s a realistic goal to achieve in 2024,” Alleyne stated to News Points West.
“I think it’s obvious that the results, especially during the last two years, fall far short of what one would anticipate from this place. Above all, we wish to turn around.
“However, this group of players is good, exciting, and a nice blend. The older, more seasoned players aren’t so old, in my opinion, and we have a nice group of young players who have already made an impression.
“I think the group is ready to achieve and that will be the exciting part of the season.”
Gloucestershire did not win a single County Championship game in 2022 after being demoted from Division One.
