A day after the UN Security Council passed a resolution calling for an urgent truce between Israel and the Palestinian organization, Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, is scheduled to visit Tehran on Tuesday to meet with Iranian officials, according to a report from Iran’s official Press TV.
Haniyeh will be making his second trip to Iran following the start of the conflict on October 7.
The resolution passed on Monday was hailed by Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani as a “positive step”.
“A more important step is effective action for its implementation,” Kanaani stated.
While applauding the UN resolution, Hamas insisted that the ceasefire be extended indefinitely.
