ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Senator (retd) Talha Mahmood of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) declared his affiliation with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
He announced this at a press conference in Islamabad, accompanied by PPP leaders.
Speaking to the media, Mahmood stated that the PPP had traditionally attempted to better the country’s situation and that the nation was currently experiencing a catastrophe.
The senator provided some context for his term by stating that he had served on the cabinet committee of the Ministry of Interior for nine years. However, he added, in 2021 he was chosen to serve as the Senate’s largest committee’s head for a three-year term: the Standing Committee on Finance.
Regarding Mehmood’s inclusion, PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi stated that they will fortify the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.when additional province-wide legislators reached out to them to join their ranks. He declared that during the next KP Senate elections, his party would pull a surprise.
He cited the KP assembly speaker’s breach of the law and Constitution, citing the speaker’s tardiness in administering the oath to the members elected to reserved seats.
When asked if he had mentioned anything regarding disagreements with JUI-F leader Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Mahmood replied in the negative. But at the moment, he claimed, there was no better political floor than the PPP.
