KARACHI: Muhammad Aurangzeb, the minister of finance and revenue, announced on Friday that the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will meet in Washington, D.C., on April 14 and 15.
Speaking to reporters today while on a visit to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in Karachi, Aurangzeb stated that while in-depth discussions will take place in Pakistan, the meeting will cover the elements of the new program.
Additionally, he restated the government’s intentions to start a significant program with the international lender while maintaining microeconomic stability through the Fund.
On March 21, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the new IMF program would probably be extended for a period of three years.
