As a new wave of terrorism sweeps the nation, Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif has emphasized the significance of enforcing international rules at the borders to stop terrorist groups from entering Pakistan, particularly from Afghanistan.
Asif advocated for several fundamental adjustments to the border situation in a post on the social media platform X, which was formerly Twitter. These adjustments are necessary given the rise in terrorist occurrences.
He referred to Afghanistan as a “source of terrorism” for Pakistan and claimed that the border between the two countries is unlike any other border in the world.
According to him, Islamabad’s best efforts were in vain since the Afghan government was failing to eradicate terrorist groups that exploit Afghan territory to launch attacks in Pakistan.
He added that all terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan are known to the country’s officials.
“Kabul does not cooperate at all. Asif stated that “terrorist traffic” needs to be prevented and that Pakistan should enforce all international rules along this border.
The remarks were made in the wake of Tuesday’s horrific suicide assault in Shangla’s Besham city, which claimed the lives of five Chinese nationals and one Pakistani citizen. The attack sent shockwaves throughout the nation and coincided with an increase in terrorist acts.
Pakistan has consistently charged the Afghan government of failing to take action against terrorist groups, such as the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban.
