It is anticipated that Apple will release a new operating system in June, maybe with AI capabilities. However, not all older iPhone models will be able to run iOS 18.
The new upgrade, which will enhance the hardware chips with faster processors and memory that can handle complex and extremely demanding activities, will only be available for iPhones released after 2018, i.e., the SE series, the 8 Plus model, and others.
This update, which is expected to include Google A1 Gemini to enable tasks like image creation and essay writing on the phone with ease, may be Apple’s largest step to yet.
It is largely expected that Apple will unveil iOS 18 at the WWDC, which is scheduled to take place from June 10 to June 14.
With the introduction of the A12 Bionic chip with the iPhone XR and iPhone XS models in 2018, which is thought to be a requirement for iOS 18 compatibility, older iPhones do not, however, have the essential CPUs.
The smartphones that will be targeted include those with the A10 Fusion chip (iPhone 7, 7 Plus) and A11 Bionic chip (iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus), in addition to those that are based on the A12 Bionic chip (iPhone XS, XS Max, XR). For some devices, this will mean that access to the update’s functionality will be restricted.
