A day after seven Iranian military commanders were murdered in an alleged Israeli airstrike against Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi declared on Tuesday that his country would reply.
“In an attempt to save itself, the Zionist state in Israel has resumed the practice of blind assassinations after failing to break the opposition front’s will. According to state media, Raisi stated, “It must understand that it will never succeed in its objectives and that this cowardly crime will not go unanswered.”
Israel has long attacked Iran’s military facilities in Syria as well as those of its allies, but it appears that this operation on Monday was the first to target the large embassy complex directly. A spokesman for the Israeli military declined to comment.
