The Indian Premier League (IPL) has kept key players out of action, thus New Zealand on Wednesday revealed their team for a five-match Twenty20 series against Pakistan.
The selection of Michael Bracewell as captain for the series that takes place later this month has been made.
For the first time since making his most recent international appearance in March of last year, Bracewell will skipper the team. He has missed time due to a broken finger and an Achilles rupture.
After his recovery, he has returned to cricket with great success, recording his best first-class numbers with the ball in his Plunket Shield return match.
The all-rounder will captain a team that includes seven players from previous T20 World Cup teams, with Tim Robinson of Wellington and Canterbury’s Will O’Rourke — selected in a Black Caps T20I squad for the first time.
O’Rourke impressed on debut with the test side against South Africa in February, while Robinson earned his spot with a torrent of runs for Wellington in the domestic Super Smash competition.
