KARACHI/THATTA: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has once again accused the previous caretaker government of failing to maintain law and order in the face of an increase in street crimes, extortion, and kidnappings in the province, primarily in Karachi. Former caretaker home minister Brig (retd) Haris Nawaz has refuted this accusation.

After visiting the Trauma Centre in Karachi to find out the condition of those hurt in a car accident while traveling to the Shah Noorani shrine, Chief Minister Shah made the remarks in an interview with reporters.

In response to a query, the chief minister stated that the caretaker government’s significant restructuring of the police force in the run-up to the general elections on February 8 was the reason why the state of law and order deteriorated.

The entire police apparatus was impacted by this reorganization, from station house officers (SHOs) to more inspector generals (AIGs). Nonetheless, the government is enforcing stringent steps to enhance the general state of law and order, encompassing Karachi, rural regions, and especially the katcha area.

He continued, “The current government is committed to ensuring the same law and order that the PPP government had improved throughout Sindh in the past.”

In response to reports of robberies and kidnappings in other regions of the province, Chief Minister Shah stated that his recently installed administration had successfully eliminated a number of dacoits in the katcha region.

Injured bandits have also been taken into custody in large numbers. He went on to say that the Rangers and the police were working together to take down the dacoits.
