It was never Tom Selleck’s intention to become an actor, much less the star of two popular television shows, “Magnum, P.I.” and “Blue Bloods.”
He said, “It is really the story of an accidental career,” in an interview with People for their cover story on the actor. I had never studied acting in school. I lacked motivation and training.”
“He wanted to be a star,” or, “Oh, he was bitten by the acting bug,” people would say, he said. “I’ve never spoken like that in my entire life. All I wanted was to get employment.”
Released on May 7, Selleck’s latest memoir, “You Never Know,” offers reflections on his life and career.
