Third seed from Norway Ruud won his greatest career title, defeating the fifth-seeded Greek 7-5 6-3.
The 25-year-old, who now holds the sixth-best ranking in the world, has never before won an ATP 500-ranked event.
“For me, it means a lot; this is my biggest title that I ever won,” the news stated.
It’s something I’ve been pursuing for quite some time. Neither a 500 nor a 1000 have ever been mine. I’ve attended a couple finals, but I was never quite there.”
The 25-year-old Tsitsipas broke Ruud early but the three-time Grand Slam runner-up rallied.
