The coroner had already declared the presenter to be an interested party in the inquest because “he may have caused or contributed” to Mr. Dymond’s demise.
Seven days after going on the show, the Portsmouth digger driver passed away from a morphine overdose and a cardiac condition. In his home’s bedroom, he was discovered deceased.
He had been charged with cheating on his Gosport-based ex-fiancee Jane Callaghan, so for the show he had completed a lie detector test.
According to testimony given to the court, Mr. Dymond thought “life was not worth living” and had thought of jumping out of the taxi on his way home from filming.
Leslie Dymond alleged that his brother had informed him that the audience had “booed and hissed” at him, according to Claire Overman, who was representing Mr. Dymond’s brother and son at the Winchester preliminary hearing.
