KARACHI: Following the team’s appalling performance in the ODI series against the West Indies, Bismah Maroof, the former captain of Pakistan, announced her immediate resignation from all forms of cricket.
In the 2006 ODI against India, Bismah made her T20I debut against Ireland.
The left-handed hitter played in 276 international matches for Pakistan, which is the most of any Pakistani woman cricket player. With her right-arm leg-spin, she has amassed 6,262 runs in international cricket, including 33 half-centuries, and claimed 80 wickets in the format.
Throughout her remarkable career, Bismah competed for the women’s squad that placed first in the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games.
Additionally, the southpaw led the team in 96 international games as captain.
