KARACHI: According to a News story on Saturday, barricades erected on the road outside the Chief Minister House were taken down by the city’s administration in compliance with Supreme Court instructions.
The development follows the SC’s directive on Thursday for the relevant authorities to take down barriers outside of many buildings, including the Governor House, CM House, and Sindh Rangers headquarters, and to submit the report within three days.
During the hearing of several cases, a three-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and made up of Justices Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Naeem Akhtar Afghan issued the order.
During the hearing, the chief judge declared, “No one is allowed to obstruct the free movement of people. Blocking roads and creating obstacles is illegal.”
The top justice had ordered the authorities to “clear” the roadways, emphasizing that the federal and provincial governments are infringing on the properties.
Additionally, according to CJP Isa, the encroachers should be held responsible for paying the costs associated with clearing the encroachments. Additionally, he sent orders to the authorities telling them not to block roads in the sake of security.
