Police have confirmed that a man brandishing a sword on Tuesday killed a teenage boy after stabbing him, two police officers, and two other people in a street attack in east London.
Just before 7:00 am (0600 GMT), the man in the Hainault neighborhood brandished what looked to be a Samurai-style sword. Authorities verified that a 36-year-old guy was arrested and placed under custody by police using Taser stun weapons.
It was confirmed by Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell of the Metropolitan Police in London that paramedics took all five victims to the hospital.
The two police officers were awaiting surgery for “serious” injuries, he continued. Authorities, however, think that the wounds they and the two members of the public received are not life-threatening.
“It’s with great sadness that one of those injured in this incident, a 13-year-old boy, has died from their injuries,” he told reporters at the scene.
Paramedics took him to the hospital after a stabbing, and he sadly died a short while later.
