After the tree was cut down in September of last year, Daniel Graham, 38, and Adam Carruthers, 31, have been charged with inflicting criminal damage.
They are both scheduled to appear at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on May 15th, when they will also face charges of criminal damage to Hadrian’s Wall.
The 200-year-old, beloved Northumberland tree adjacent to Hadrian’s Wall was discovered to have been chopped down, causing a nationwide outrage.
The tree was down during the course of the night on September 27 and 28, leading to several arrests by Northumbria Police.
Afterwards, a man in his 60s and a teenager were informed that they would not be subject to any more action.
