To promote cross-cultural and people-to-people exchanges, a senior US official has offered to assist in getting Pakistani film content on the well-known over-the-top (OTT) streaming service Netflix.
Eleni Kounalakis, the lieutenant governor of California, which is home to Netflix, made the offer on Thursday in Los Angeles while she was meeting with Masood Khan, Pakistan’s ambassador to the US.
If the plan comes to pass, it will significantly increase the amount of Pakistani content available globally because of Netflix’s large user base, which according to Statista has up to 269 million paying members as of the first quarter of 2024.
