Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), stated on Tuesday that in order to maintain the legitimacy and confidence in the nation’s legal system, the May 9 rioters’ organizers and offenders must be held accountable in accordance with the law and the Constitution.
At a press conference in Rawalpindi, the military spokesperson stated, “The issue of May 9 riots is not limited to the Pakistan Army but [in fact] concerns the whole nation.”
“We saw how some political leaders gave selected targets [to the mob],” the spokesperson stated, lamenting how some individuals were “brainwashed” against the armed services despite the fact that the public was present for the May 9 incident.
