The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab issued a warning on Wednesday about an impending heatwave in the state due to a rise in temperature.
The PDMA predicts that between May 8 and May 10, the temperature will rise by three to five degrees Celsius. In addition, during the course of this week, the province is predicted to see thunderstorms and significant rainfall.
According to a government agency, “South Punjab is likely to receive heavy rains from May 10 to May 11,” and thunderstorms are predicted to occur in majority of Punjab’s districts.
The PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia warned the public to exercise caution because of the impending warmth and heavy rains. He added that thunderstorms could endanger a variety of crops in the region.
“The district administrations across Punjab have been informed about the weather situation,” said the source.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a prediction on Tuesday indicating that rain-duststorm/thunderstorm conditions would be present from May 10 to May 12 in the following locations: Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan, and Sahiwal.
