With an incredible back nine, Rory McIlroy captured his fourth career Wells Fargo Championship by tying overnight leader Xander Schauffele.
After seven holes, McIlroy was behind by two shots, but in the next eight holes, the 35-year-old made four birdies and two eagles to pull ahead by six shots.
At Quail Hollow, the Northern Irishman ultimately defeated American Schauffele by five strokes with a six-under 65.
Following his victory with Shane Lowry at the Zurich Classic two weeks ago, McIlroy has now won back-to-back PGA titles.
The world number two says that as he prepares for this coming week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla, the “stars are aligning.”
