Speaker of the National Assembly (NA), Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has called a critical meeting for Monday (tomorrow) to determine the lower house’s parliamentary schedule, which includes the budget session and the days set aside for debating the vote of thanks on the president’s speech, according to The News on Sunday.

Parliamentary leaders and the chief whip of each of the parliamentary parties would be present at the meeting.

Chief Whips of the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI)-backed Sunni Ittehad Council, Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, Chief Whip of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani, and Ministers for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Azam Nazeer Tarar and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N),

The event will be attended by Aminul Haq, the whip of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Noor Alam Khan of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Gul Asghar Khan of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), and Khalid Hussain Magsi of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).

At their most recent meeting with the speaker of the NA in April, the representatives of the government and opposition agreed to start debating the vote of gratitude for the president’s speech to the joint session of parliament on May 13.
