Democrat Over the past week, opponents of Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s use of a private plane to attend The Masters golf event have taken offense at her, given the city’s persistent high rate of violent crime.
On April 13, Bowser, who is currently facing a plummeting approval rating, flew more than 500 miles to Augusta, Georgia, for the tournament in a senior adviser’s plane owned by real estate mogul Jodie McClean, a campaign donor for the mayor.
Bowser was first criticized for using taxpayer funds to travel to The Masters at all. However, as it became known that she had taken a private plane (the expense of which was paid for by McClean), the critics resorted to social media to vent their annoyance.
