But in the criminal case against Mr. Trump that is presently being played out in a high-profile New York trial, the encounter between the now-ex-president and his former attorney Michael Cohen may be crucial.
Mr. Cohen testified Tuesday at the trial, saying, “I was sitting with President Trump, and he asked me if I was OK; he asked me if I needed money.”
When he stated he was “OK” to the then-president, he claimed Mr. Trump answered, “Okay, just make sure you deal with Allen [Weisselberg].” At the time, Mr. Weisselberg served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization.
