Ronel Blanco, the Houston Astros starter, has been punished for 10 games after being ejected for having sticky material in his glove on Tuesday night.
The MLB issued the ban, which was widely expected, on Wednesday, along with an undisclosed fine for breaching the league’s strict regulation on sticky substances for pitchers.
General Manager Dana Brown stated, “Blanco will not appeal MLB’s punishment,” as The Athletic reported.
Blanco was pitching against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday when officials examined his glove before the fourth inning. The sticky substance was reportedly one of the more egregious breaches they’d observed in a glove since the league mandated that pitchers be checked at the start of and between innings.
Ronel Blanco of the Houston Astros has been suspended by the MLB for 10 games and fined for ejecting a sticky substance.
