Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington has been around the game for a long time, so it’s reasonable that he’s secure in his decisions. However, one of his managerial decisions backfired, and he refused to accept responsibility.
With the bases loaded and his Los Angeles Angels losing 7-6 with one out in the bottom of the ninth, Luis Guillorme was charged with executing a suicide squeeze.
However, because the slider he faced was well beyond the strike zone, Guillorme missed, and baserunner Zach Neto was tagged out at home.
Guillorme struck out later in the at-bat to end the inning, and the Angels fell with the same score.
In a controversial coaching choice, the Angels’ Ron Washington criticizes a player for not executing a suicide bunt.
