BEIJING: Following extensive discussions on a range of topics related to bilateral relations and collaboration, Beijing and Islamabad decided on Wednesday to move on with their joint project, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and approved the completion of the procedures for outside involvement.
During a joint press stakeout, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar pledged to “further upgrade and expand this cooperation” and expressed pleasure with the CPEC’s steady pace.
The two sides discussed their in-depth conversation on the many aspects of their bilateral relations, including CPEC and cooperation on counterterrorism, after co-chairing the fifth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, which was held today at the Diaoyutai State Guest House.
Referring to the Sino-Pak relations as a “strategic partnership that works in any weather,” Dar and Wang pledged to keep extending support to each other on issues of core interest.
Dar said the country looked forward to further enhancing China’s “development footprint” as in the last 10 years, the CPEC transformed Pakistan’s economic landscape by eliminating power outages and by developing a robust infrastructure network.
