The first heatwave is predicted to strike Umarkot, Tharparkar, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, and Sanghar in Sindh, as well as Bahawalpur and Rahimyar Khan in south Punjab, according to the NDMA.

According to the NDMA, the first heatwave might linger for two to three days, from May 15 to May 30, with temperatures in those cities potentially reaching 40 °C and extreme heat waves.

The second heatwave, which could see temperatures as high as 45 °C, is predicted by the NDMA to last four to five days in late May or early June.

The third heatwave, which is predicted to impact Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Badin, and Khairpur, is predicted to occur within the first ten days of June.

On May 8, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning about a rise in temperature that could cause a heatwave in the region.

The PDMA predicted that between May 8 and 10, the temperature would increase by three to five °C.

The government agency had stated in a statement, “South Punjab is likely to receive heavy rains from May 10 to 11,” and that thunderstorms were predicted to occur in most of Punjab’s districts.

PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia has warned the public to exercise caution due to the impending temperatures and heavy rains, stating that the thunderstorms posed a threat toa threat to various crops across the province.
