Lesley Sewell, the company’s former head of IT, told the Post Office investigation on Thursday that former CEO Ms Vennells contacted her four times between 2020 and 2021.
Ms Sewell stated that she banned Ms Vennell’s phone number due to unease with the communication.
In her witness statement to the probe, Ms. Sewell stated that one of Ms. Vennell’s emails mentioned the need to patch in memory gaps about Horizon and “Project Sparrow,” a group addressing concerns with forensic accountants who discovered weaknesses in the accounting system.
Paula contacted me four times in total. “I recall blocking her number after the last call because I did not want her to contact me,” Ms Sewell added.
I hadn’t communicated with Paula since leaving POL [Post Office Limited] in 2015.
