England seamer Josh Tongue may miss a considerable amount of the home summer after sustaining a pectoral injury.
The 26-year-old, who made his Test debut last summer, hasn’t played since August, missing England’s Caribbean white-ball tour and the Indian Test series.
According to an England statement, Josh has suffered a relapse to his original injury. There is no timeline for when he will return to action.
Tongue’s injury is a setback for England’s plans following James Anderson’s retirement.
The 41-year-old, England’s all-time greatest wicket-taker, will retire following the first Test against the West Indies on July 10 at Lord’s.
