It has been more than 50 years since a Republican has won a presidential election in Minnesota, but former President Donald Trump believes he has “a really good shot” of breaking the losing record in his 2024 rematch with President Biden.
On Friday, the former president will speak at the Minnesota GOP’s annual Lincoln Reagan fundraiser dinner, which is traditionally held in a blue state.
In his 2016 presidential victory over Democratic contender Hillary Clinton, Trump lost Minnesota by only 1.5 points. However, during his unsuccessful re-election effort four years ago, he lost the state to President Biden by more than seven points.
“We think we have a really good shot at Minnesota,” Trump said in a Wednesday interview with the news.
