The co-hosts of “The View” ridiculed Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s Catholic beliefs on Thursday, comparing the athlete’s religious viewpoint to “cult-like and extremist religions in the Middle East” and advising him to seek therapy.
The panelists added to Butker’s criticism for his recent commencement speech at a private Catholic institution in Kansas, in which he praised traditional Catholic values, chastised the LGBTQ community and President Biden, and defended his wife’s role as a “homemaker.”
“If you use this to oppress or hold people down, you are not walking with Jesus,” co-host Sara Haines stated.
During the discussion, the panelists took several digs at Butker’s speech and religious conviction. However, co-host Whoopi Goldberg stood out by it.
