Every May since 1946, the red carpet has been laid out on Cannes’ palm-lined boulevards for the International Film Festival, transforming the French Riviera resort city into a playground for movie stars.
Cannes, like the celebrities it draws, is not camera shy: it’s a picture-perfect town brimming with fuchsia bougainvillea and brilliant ivory-hued façade. And, as its grandiose great hotels demonstrate, the town has been a magnet for the wealthy long before the advent of film; before entertaining Hollywood royalty, it was the haunt of European nobles.
The 2024 Film Festival, which will take place from May 14 to 25, will feature a number of well-known A-listers, including Anya Taylor Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and Kevin Costner. However, you don’t have to be of royal blood or star in a Hollywood blockbuster to have a VIP experience in this jewel-like Côte d’Azur vacation destination.
