Scarlett Johansson, a Hollywood star, said she was “shocked” and “angry” after OpenAI unveiled a chatbot with an “eerily similar” voice to hers.

The actress revealed she had previously declined an offer from the firm to voice its new chatbot, which reads material aloud to users.

When the new model debuted last week, observers immediately drew parallels between the chatbot’s tone and Johansson’s in the 2013 film Her.

On Monday, OpenAI announced that it would delete the voice but emphasized that it was not intended to be an “imitation” of the star.

In a statement obtained by the news on Monday evening, Johansson accused the company and its creator, Sam Altman, of purposefully imitating her voice.
