The MP for South Thanet is set to return to parliament on Wednesday, eight months after being taken to the hospital.
He informed his constituents in December that he was diagnosed with sepsis in September 2023 and placed in an induced coma with multiple organ failures.
Mr. Mackinlay stated that he was “extremely lucky to be alive” and had undergone “extreme surgery” as a result of his sickness.
On the eve of his Commons return, he told the news that he hoped to be the first “bionic MP” after being fitted with prosthetic hands and legs.
