People shouting, running away, and scrambling out from under metal polls at a presidential candidate Jorge Alvarez Maynez rally in the northern state of Nuevo Leon were shown in video footage of the fall released on social media.
Mr. Maynez, a member of the centrist Citizens’ Movement party, stated that he was brought to a hospital in San Pedro Garza Garcia for treatment but is “okay” and has suspended campaign activities.
“The only important thing at this point is to care for the victims of the accident,” he posted on social media.
Footage uploaded online showed Mr. Maynez waving to the swarm of supporters.
