They lost again on Wednesday, their 25th in the last 35 games, following their sweeping of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After going into the eighth inning at 3-3, LA scored six runs.
Third base umpire Ramon De Jesus dismissed Mets reliever Jorge López after López argued that a check swing was a ball after the Dodgers took the lead.
As he left the field, Lopez untucked his jersey and threw his glove over the safety netting and into the stands, giving a fan a memento.
Carlos Mendoza, the manager after the game, deemed the action “unacceptable,” saying they will deal with it.
Several reports state that their corresponding action is to designate him for assignment.
As Mendoza finished, Lopez declared the Mets to be the “worst team in the whole f—ing MLB,” an additional action that was likewise seen as “unacceptable,” as reports.
When asked if he regretted tossing the glove, the right-hander had a quite direct response.
“Not at all. I have no regrets,” he declared.
He then trashed his own team.
