Pakistan’s gifted fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has declined the invitation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take over as vice captain of the team.
Afridi made his choice after Babar Azam momentarily resigned from the captaincy during his brief tenure. Afridi has decided not to accept the vice captaincy at this moment, even though he has gained invaluable leadership experience during this time.
The PCB clarified that Afridi’s temporary skipper and other rotating leadership positions are part of a larger plan they have in place to efficiently manage players’ workloads and guarantee their peak performance each and every time.
They acknowledged Afridi’s vital contribution in Pakistan’s cricketing accomplishments and underlined his continued importance to the squad.
