ISLAMABAD: In the contentious tweet case, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan and Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan have been spared harassment and negative action by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The FIA was instructed not to “harass or take disciplinary action” against the PTI leaders, and the IHC urged both of them to appear before the investigating agency.

It has also been mandated that the leaders of the party created by Imran Khan record their remarks in front of the FIA.

IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani gave the written order in response to the petitions challenging the FIA’s call-up notifications.

The federal agency was then sent with a notice by the top court, which requested a response by June 25.

Omar Ayub Khan, the secretary general of the PTI, submitted an excuse earlier today, telling the federal agency that he was “busy” and could not appear before the FIA.

An investigation into a message on X, the previous Twitter platform, ascribed to the former prime minister Imran Khan, was initiated last week by the FIA’s anti-cybercrime squad.

“Every Pakistani should study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report and get to know who was the true traitor, General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” the message stated.

It was “in the interest of justice” that the committee had ordered the top PTI leaders to appear before the FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre on Wednesday.
