Sher Afzal Marwat, a lawmaker for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), expressed his sadness over the manner in which PTI founder Imran Khan disclosed party decisions pertaining to him after receiving a show-cause notice and being expelled from the party’s senior decision-making bodies.
“I am not angry with the PTI founder, but why were these decisions made without consulting me?” the lawmaker questioned reporters in front of Islamabad’s Parliament House.
Marwat expressed dissatisfaction with his treatment, claiming he was mistreated and that he did not deserve the party’s attitude.
“It’s okay if [others] believe it would be better for me to remain in the background. “I told the journalists that I would resign if they wanted me to,” he stated.
Marwat made his remarks on May 9, following his expulsion from the party’s political and core committees according to orders from Imran Khan, the party’s founder.
The decision was taken by the party following an outspoken Marwat’s public criticism of the senior officials and his refusal to serve under them.
Marwat was then given a show-cause notice for going against the party’s policies and code of conduct. Despite having received explicit instructions from Khan, the notice claimed that Marwat had made “irresponsible statements” that damaged the party’s standing and interests.
It went on to say that the politician’s comments and deeds had strained ties with stakeholders and other party members.
