The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, was present at the burial prayer, known as namaz-e-janaza, on Monday for the late Captain Faraz Ilyas in Kasur. Captain Ilyas was killed in an IED attack in the District Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Attaullah Tarar, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, along with several high-ranking military personnel, civil officials, family members, and locals, attended the funeral prayer.

Captain Faraz, a 26-year-old, was from the Rai Kalan village near Kasur. He bravely gave his life on Sunday in Lakki Marwat while carrying out his duties, along with seven other Pakistan Army troops. After an IED struck their vehicle, the troops died martyred.

In addition, PM Shehbaz visited with the parents of the fallen captain and offered his condolences.

He declared that the native hamlet of the fallen officer would be called “Faraz Ilyas Shaheed” and that it would be turned into a model community.

The premier prayed for the bereaved family to have the strength to endure the loss and assured the parents that their son’s sacrifice would not be in vain.

He said, “A shaheed has an elevated place in Jannah under the Quranic teachings,” noting that many military personnel had given their lives in defense of the nation.

The prime minister declared that the country was proud of its courageous sons and that the cowardly terrorists would be unable to break their unwavering commitment.
