KARACHI: On Tuesday, a municipal court in the city denied social worker Sarim Burney’s request for bail in connection with the human trafficking case.
Following the conclusion of the arguments made by Burney’s attorney and the attorneys for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the court of Judicial Magistrate (East) Khaliq ul Zaman issued the order.
The agency’s prosecutor informed the court at the case hearing that additional evidence needed to be gathered against the defendant.
The FIA lawyer stated, “If the suspect is granted bail, it may affect the investigation,” noting that the accused was continuing to tell lies.
He went on to say that the probe had produced more revelations.
Burney’s attorney countered that the FIA did not properly investigate the situation.
During the debate, he remarked, “The parents who adopted the baby from the hospital handed her over to the Sarim Burney Trust.”
